Kedarnath, Badrinath and Yamunotri Tour Itinerary

Day 1
Morning start your journey to Rishikesh. Overnight stay is at Rishikesh.

RISHIKESH: The base for Char Dham pilgrimage and gateway to Garhwal Himalayas. Surrounded by the Shivalik hills of the Himalayas on three sides, Rishikesh is known as the world capital of Yoga. Rishikesh is an ideal destination not only for pilgrims but also for those who want to delve deeper into meditation, Yoga, and other aspects of Hinduism.

Compared to Haridwar, Rishikesh is more tranquil and offers some of the best meditation spots. A number of Ashrams (hermitages) offer Yoga and meditation courses for those in quest of spiritual fulfillment. Some come to Rishikesh to learn the ways of the mystics while others come here to discover their inner selves. Rishikesh has recently developed to be an important center for treatment using the ancient methods of treatment nature and Ayurveda for difficult to treat ailments and stress-induced problems. The International Yoga week held here every year (2nd – 7th Feb) on the banks of the river Ganga attracts participation from all across the globe.
Day 2
Today morning after breakfast start your journey to Barkot. En-route visit Mussoorie, the queen of hills also the Kempty waterfall. Have your lunch and drive further to Barkot. Upon arrival at Barkot check-in at the hotel, an overnight stay is at the hotel.

BARKOT : A small town situated at an elevation of 1,280 m on Mussoorie Yamunotri road. It is located at a distance of 128 km from Dehradun and just 49 km en route to Yamunotri. This place provides a view of some magnificent mountain ranges. The mesmerizing view of the peaks of Bandar Poonch which remains snow-capped throughout the year is sure to remain embedded in your mind forever. On the way to Barkot, you can see snow-clad mountains, green valleys, and apple orchards. It is indeed the perfect place for a great vacation away from the hustle and bustle of city life. That is why it is called heaven for nature lovers and adventurers. The best part is that it has a pleasant climate round the year and is well connected from all major regions via surface.

Day 3
YAMUNOTRI BARKOT (TREK : 07 KMS & BY DRIVE : 38 KMS)
Morning after breakfast, start your journey to Janki Chatti, trek start from here to Yamunotri (06 km). Either by walk or by horse or by Doli on own expenses. Arrive Yamunotri, one can cook rice by packing it in a cloth and dipping it in the hot water of the hot kund. Pilgrims take this cooked rice home as “Prasad”. Here near the temple “Pooja” can be offered to Divya Shila, after taking bath in Jamunabai Kund’s warn water and having “Darshan” of pious “Yamunaji” returning to Hanumanchatti.

Later drive back to Barkot. Upon arrival, Check-in at the hotel, dinner, and overnight stay is at the hotel.

Day 4
Today, after breakfast, start drive to Uttarkashi. Upon arrival, check-in at the hotel. Overnight stay is at Uttarkashi hotel.

UTTARKASHI : Situated at the bank of river Bhagirathi. The temple of Lord Vishwanath is located here where a massive iron trident is erected. The other important temples situated here are Ekadash Rudra, Bhairav, Gyaneshwar, and Goddess Kuteti Devi.

Day 5
GANGOTRI UTTARKASHI (BY DRIVE: 100 KMS/04 HR)
We proceed to Gangotri, en route we enjoy picturesque Harsil village, Bhagirathi River, and the most magnificent view of the Himalayas. After Gangotri Darshan, return to Uttarkashi. Overnight stay is at the hotel in Uttarkashi hotel.

GANGOTRI TEMPLE : It is the highest and the most important temple of Goddess Ganga. Gangotri is a small town centered on the Gangotri Temple of Goddess Ganga. The present temple of Gangotri was built by Amar Singh Thapa, Gorkha General in the early 18th century. The origin of Bhagirathi River, Gaumukh glacier is 18kms from Gangotri and one must cover the distance on foot. Gangotri offers scenic vistas of rugged terrains, gushing water of Bhagirathi River, and snow-clad peaks. The place holds great importance amongst Hindus.
Day 6
Today morning drive to Guptkashi. Upon arrival, check-in at the hotel/camp. Overnight stay is at Guptkashi.

GUPTKASHI : Guptkashi has a great importance quite like that of Kashi. The ancient Vishwanath temple, Ardhnareshwar temple, and Manikarnika Kund, where the two streams of Ganga and Yamuna are believed to meet, are the main places of attraction in Guptkashi. It is believed that after the battle of Mahabharata, the Pandavas wanted to meet Lord Shiva and seek his blessing. But Lord Shiva evaded from Guptkasi to Kedarnath as he did not want to meet the Pandavas, the reason being that although they had fought for the right cause, they were also responsible for destroying their own dynasty.
Day 7
SONEPRAYAG – KEDARNATH (BY TREK : 19 KMS)
Morning after early breakfast, drive to Soneprayag. Further take trek of 19 Km to Kedarnath. Overnight stay is at Kedarnath.
Day 8
SONEPRAYAG – GUPTKASHI (DRIVE : 1 HRS)
Morning visit Kedarnath temple. Later trek to Soneprayag and further drive to Guptkashi. Overnight at Guptkashi

KEDARNATH : The Kedarnath shrine, one of the 12 jyotirlingas of Lord Shiva, is a scenic spot situated, against the backdrop of the majestic Kedarnath range. Kedar is another name of Lord Shiva, the protector, and the destroyer. According to legend, the Pandavas after having won over the Kaurava in the Kurukshetra war felt guilty of having killed their own brothers and sought the blessings of Lord Shiva for redemption. He eluded them repeatedly and while fleeing took refuge at Kedarnath in the form of a bull. On being followed he dived into the ground, leaving his hump on the surface. The remaining portions of Lord Shiva appeared at four other places and are worshipped there as his manifestations. The arms appeared at Tungnath, the face at Rudranath, the belly at Madhmaheshwar, and his locks (hair) with the head at Kalpeshwar. Kedarnath and the four above-mentioned shrines are treated as Panch Kedar.
Day 9
After Breakfast drive to Badrinath via Joshimath. Check-in Hotel. Later in the evening visit Badrinath Temple for Aarti. Overnight stay is at Hotel.

BADRINATH : One of the ‘Four Dhams’ and one of the most celebrated pilgrimage spots of the country and is situated at an elevation of 3,133 meters, guarded on either side by the two mountain ranges known as Nar & Narayan with the towering Neelkanth Peak providing a splendid backdrop. This revered spot was once carpeted with wild berries. Thus the place got the name “Badri van”, meaning “forest of berries”.
Day 10
Morning after darshan, take breakfast and start your drive to Rudraprayag. Overnight stay is at Rudraprayag.

RUDRAPRAYAG: Named after Lord Shiva (Rudra), Rudraprayag is situated at the holy confluence of the Alaknanda and Mandakini rivers. The meeting of the Mandakini and Alaknanda rivers has a unique beauty of its own and it seems as if two sisters were embracing each other. It is believed that to master the mysteries of music, Narad Muni worshipped Lord Shiva, who appeared in his Rudra Avtaar (incarnation) to bless Narad. The Shiva and Jagdamba temples are of great religious importance.
Day 11
On arrival at Haridwar, check-in the hotel for an overnight stay. In the evening visit Har-Ki-Pauri for Ganga Aarti.

HARIDWAR : Haridwar, lying at the feet of Shiva’s hills, i.e., Shivaliks, in the Haridwar district of Uttarakhand state, is a doorway. Suryavanshi prince Bhagirath performed penance here to salvage the souls of his ancestors who had perished due to the curse of sage Kapila. The penance was answered and the river Ganga trickled forth forms Lord Shiva’s locks and its bountiful water revived the sixty thousand sons of king Sagara. In the traditional of Bhagirath, devout Hindus stand in the sacred waters here, praying for the salvation of their departed elder. It is the doorway to the sources of the Ganga and the Yamuna. The ‘Aarti’ worship of the Ganga after sunset and the floating ‘dia’ (lamp) is a moving ritual.
Day 12
Breakfast is at the hotel and drive to Delhi. On arrival, drop off at the place of convenience.
